Paternity can be determined prenatally from samples of CVS, amniotic fluid or umbilical cord blood. These samples can also be used for the QF-PCR test for the most common genetic disorders
Samples from the potential father are buccal swabs, or other biological material:
  • Blood
  • Hair: which must have roots. Hairs that fall off, or are cut, are not suitable for analysis. It is preferable to send 3-5 hairs
  • Cigarette butts, toothbrushes, chewing gum...
  • Glasses or bottles from which the person drank
  • Cut fingernails
  • Fabrics containing biological material (eg, saliva, blood, semen...)
